We, at the Swedish School, understand that using Swedish at home can be challenging, especially within the families where one parent has limited or no proficiency in Swedish. Therefore, the School is planning to launch a new class in Term 2, 2024. The class will be held on Saturdays, 10.00-13.00 at Toorak Primary School, and Cecila Wilson will be teaching this class. The fees for Term 2- Term 4 are $553.
The class is designated for students in Grades 3-6, and targets students/families who do not use the Swedish language as a primary or active role at home.
The objective of this class is to immerse students in Swedish culture, traditions, and their background, focusing on the "why," "how," and "when”. While some exposure to grammar is inevitable when learning a language, the primary emphasis will be on spoken language skills and building a practical day-to-day vocabulary.
To proceed with our plans, we are currently seeking expressions of interest from our school families and broader Swedish community, as we require a minimum number of students to initiate the class. We would greatly appreciate it if you could respond to the email address [email protected] to express your interest in joining the class at your earliest convenience. If you enrol later in the year, the fees will be the same as the Saturday classes, as outlined on our website.
Should you have any questions regarding the class do not hesitate to contact our School Coordinator, Anette Ryan via email [email protected] or by phone 0403 415 300.
Please note that this class is not intended for students who plan to continue into our Swedish VCE program.
