Welcome to Melbourne Swedish Community School
The School was established in 1979 and is run by a committee elected by the parents.
Within its mix and commonality of interest of its students, the School promotes multi-cultural values and more particularly provides a bridge between the cultures and languages shared by its students. To facilitate this, the School endeavours to engender its values outside the classroom as well as inside by encouraging students and parents to attend various excursions and outings throughout the school year including the school camp. The Melbourne Swedish Community School is committed to developing the all-round individual capacity of students. The curriculum integrates a full range of various aspects of Swedish, primarily the language, heritage, history, geography and provides for a number of cultural activities.
The School has a Mutual Respect Policy. Please read more regarding this policy in our School Charter.
Our students learn about many aspects of Sweden, primarily the language and about the culture. Furthermore, we give the students the opportunity to experience Swedish traditions all year round.
All classes are held in Swedish. We have lessons of 3 hours per class weekly. Classes are run on Saturdays.
In addition, a very popular VCE program is offered on Tuesday evenings. The School has been authorised by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) as a VCE provider.
The School also offers Swedish classes for adults.
The Melbourne Swedish Community School Ass Inc is an accredited language school and we are very thankful for the funding we receive from the Victorian Government.
